The Asset Register is a new ledger system and tool suite that enables developers to set data parameters for their assets, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of applications in the open metaverse. It acts as a metadata repository, defining what an asset is, what it can do, and in what environments it can be applied.
Web3 assets are often limited by linear data structures, typically tied to a single metadata file, with no way to create connections between assets in disparate ecosystems. Current systems rely on specific chains, making it harder for assets to build relationships across different networks. They mainly cater to on-chain assets and overlook off-chain ones, making achieving interoperability for both types of assets more challenging.
The Asset Register allows you to:
- Create asset linking between assets that are either on-chain or off-chain
- Generate an Asset Tree describing the links
- Emit events based on changes on the Asset Register
- Applications can subscribe to changes on the Asset Register
